Memory Foam Mattress

July 21st, 2010

There are many different types of mattresses available to buy but it is widely accepted that to experience the best night’s sleep, memory foam is the best option. Two types of mattresses that are commonly purchased are traditional coil spring mattresses and memory foam mattresses. Many consumers feel that the benefits of the memory foam mattress significantly outweigh those of the coil spring mattress.

There are different types of foam mattress: latex (which springs back when you get up) and visco-elastic, or ‘memory foam’, which doesn’t, but leaves an imprint of your body. But you have to be careful, warns BackCare, not to get stuck in your own moulded hollow.

Lying in one position can create stiffness. A mattress should be supportive enough to take the weight of your body without sagging, but firm enough for you to turn with ease.

Memory foam is manufactured from visco elastic polyurethane foam and has some unique qualities. Snoozing on a full memory foam mattress causes it to conform, or mold, to the shape of the body, but it will then return to its initial shape, consequently the name memory foam. It was first made for NASA nearly 40 years ago, but as production costs decreased it was made available to the public in the 1990s. Since then it has enjoyed an impressive rise in status.

The majority of the confusion with visco memory foam is because of the many densities and levels of firmness that are for sale. Density is the weight of a 1-cubic foot section of foam. If a 1-cubic foot section weighs 5 pounds its density is also 5 pounds. Normally, if the foam is denser it will have a longer lifespan, but the less soft it will feel.

ILD, short for Indentation Load Deflection, is how firmness is rated. ILD is the amount of power required, measured in pounds, to cause a 1 inch indentation in the foam. Measuring the Indentation Load Deflection is done by laying a 50-inch disc onto a section of foam that is measured at 4×15x15 inches. The amount of weight in pounds necessary to press the foam down 1 inch is its ILD rating. If it takes 14 pounds to compress the foam down an inch its ILD rating is 14. A mattress that has a lower ILD rating is softer.

Sleeping on a typical spring mattress will cause more force on specific points such as the hips or shoulders. A memory foam mattress will distribute the body weight of a person more evenly and over a greater area. This will lessen the degree of pressure in any specific area which can result in a more restful snooze and decreased back or joint aches.

Memory foam retains heat and is why many individuals do not care for it. When somebody lies on one of these foam mattresses it will originally feel stiff. Later, as soon as the heat from the body is transferred to the foam it will begin to become softer, causing it to conform, or mold, to the persons body curves. The foam below the heat will stay cooler and less soft, providing great support, while the warmer foam will be softer, providing added comfort. Many people with lower back pain will notice that their ache goes away due to sleepingon a full memory foam mattress.

Laundry Hampers

July 19th, 2010

Laundry can pile up unbelievably fast. That’s why most of us use a laundry hamper. The type of laundry hamper you buy depends upon where it will be placed and how you get your laundry done.

Organizing and maintaining your laundry at home can be done efficiently by using laundry baskets. Whether you want to keep all the dirty clothes that need to be washed or sort out washed clothes, a laundry basket offers the perfect solution. Laundry baskets generally have a wide mouth and may or may not come with a lid. These baskets have small holes all over them that allow clothes to breathe. Soiled clothes if left in air tight baskets might develop mildew that may spread to other clothes.

Laundry baskets are available in a variety of sizes from small to big ones, and you can pick one based on the amount of laundry you’d be doing. Colors and designs are person specific and can also be chosen to complement the interiors. In addition, laundry baskets generally come in cylindrical, square, rectangle or round shapes.

Wire Mesh Baskets let clothes breathe as the wire mesh aerate clothes stored in the wiremsh laundry baskets. Wiremesh bags are also used for storing laundry.
Portable Baskets are wheeled hampers that can be moved from the washer to the dryer. On the other hand, Disposable Laundry Baskets are made of plastic and can be disposed after every usage. Another kind of basket is the antique Baskets. They enhance the decor of the laundry room and add to its decorative value. Wicker Baskets:are the traditional laundry baskets that are made of bamboo or wood.

You can put laundry baskets to other uses. You can use them as recycle bins where you can store things that can be recycled. Use a laundry basket with lid to store unused gifts that may be used later on. Store extra blankets and sheets in these baskets. This list is not exhaustive, be innovative and you can think of other novel ways that these baskets can be used.

Leather Sofa

July 17th, 2010

Leather sofas and leather sofa sets come in a diversity of colors and styles. A leather sofa is the ideal way to improve a room’s decor and they are also simple to keep clean. But furniture upholstered in leather can be one of the most luxurious furniture out there.

When you buy a leather sofa it is important to make the right decision as it is an investment in your comfort. Whether you choose real leather, faux leather, aniline leather, brown, black or any other color leather there are deciding factors that should be taken into consideration that will help you choose the sofa for you when you need to know how to buy a leather sofa.

There are lots of different kinds of leather. “Corrected” leather is a very uniform color, it doesn’t show and imperfections. It has been dyed and has a coating on the surface. This is the kind of leather that is used for car interiors. It is hard wearing and doesn’t scratch easily, any spills can be wiped off. Then there is “pull-up” leather, it is treated with a waxy substance. This is the kind that scratches when you run your fingernail over it. You are just displacing the wax, it will come back if you rub the area with your hand. These leathers tend to look a little more rustic and can absorb spills. They will show “field marks”, bug bites, brands, scars, etc. that were on the hide. Not a good choice with kids or pets, but can be really beautiful it taken care of by adults!! Over time they develop a rich patina and are gorgeous.

Prices vary with quality. Corrected leather tends to run a little less just because they can be less picky about the hides that are used since they are correcting and dying them. “Leather-match” furniture is the least expensive because only the seat and arms are leather. The rest is a vinyl that looks like leather, not a great choice.

Contrary to popular belief, leather is breathable and is not cold and clammy. As soon as you sit on it it adjusts to your body temperature. It is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Vinyl is not nice to sit on and lots of times people have sat on a vinyl couch thinking it was leather and that is how these opinions are formed.

Remember to match your sofa to your decor. The color and style of your sofa, and even the quality of leather you choose, will vary depending on where it’s used. A sofa for an outdoor living room will be different from what you choose for a playroom or a family room. Leather sofas come in the same styles as other types of couches; standard sofas, sectionals, love seats, sleeper sofas and chaise lounges.

Wood Furniture

July 15th, 2010

Though you may not stick to it, a budget for purchasing furniture is a good guideline when you begin shopping. If you appreciate quality construction, fine woods, and unique design you may be tempted to spend more for these features. And you may decide that your budget deserves to be readjusted if you fall in love with something special. But a budget can keep you in line so you don’t spend all your available funds on one piece.

Wood Furniture can be both elegant and homey. With good construction a piece of wood furniture can last forever.

All wood furniture is made from either hardwood (trees that lose their leaves seasonally) or softwood (from trees that keep their leaves year round). Oak and teak are hardwoods that really are hard and heavy. Fine hardwoods like walnut, mahogany, maple, cherry, or oak are found in the most expensive pieces. Softwoods like are used in less formal pieces.

Drawer construction is generally a good indication of overall furniture quality. Some drawers have no guides. The lack of guides allows more “play” and can cause the drawer to bind when it is opened and closed. Others have wood-to-wood center guides, nylon-to-wood center guides, side-mounted roller guides or center-mounted metal guides. Roller guides and center-mounted metal guides normally have built-in drawer stops, and some have lifetime warranties for drawer operation. Many drawers have glue-blocks to strengthen the bottom. Most ready-to-finish chests have wood drawer bottoms not always the case with prefinished furniture.

Now, as in the past, doweled and dovetailed drawer joints indicate a high degree of craftsmanship. However, modern machine technology, good bonding glue and pneumatically driven staples coated with resin have afforded savings in construction while providing durability.

The finish on furniture can enhance the natural look of wood or change it completely. A finish of oil or wax lets the wood shine. For more durability, lacquer or varnish is applied when the piece is manufactured. Distressed furniture can be natural (as with an old piece) or man-made (via sanding or beating the wood with chains). Painting, gilding, and inlays can change the look of a wood piece as well. The finish of case goods should be smooth to the touch and any table leaves should match.

Outdoor Furniture.

July 13th, 2010

You are planning some family picnics and outdoor gatherings at your home this summer, you’ll need some outdoor patio furniture. There are many different types, shapes, sizes and colors of patio furniture. You can get a square table that seats four, a round table for six with a huge umbrella, and even lounge chairs to boot.

Most indoor furniture can not be used outdoors due to the elements of the weather. Therefore, outdoor furniture is typically especially designed for the outdoors. There two main differences between outdoor and indoor furniture is in design and material. The design of outdoor furniture is typically simple with particular attention to weather resistance. For example, many outdoor tables and chairs have holes or slits so that water will not build up and wind can blow through. This design is usually not incorporated for indoor furniture. Another important difference is in the use of material. Outdoor furniture are usually made of material that will resist corrosion and decay from the weather. These materials can be metal, plastic or some durable woods.

Outdoor furniture is typically made of weather resistant materials like cedar, teak, wicker, wrought iron, aluminum and stainless steel etc.Teak outdoor furniture is one of the most attractive, weather resistant, longest lasting types of outdoor furniture available on the current market. Lower-end outdoor wicker is often woven on a rattan frame, a natural material that does not hold up to moisture as well as aluminum, steel or teak. Steel and aluminum won’t warp or come unglued, and aluminum offers the advantage of being rust proof. Teak is a weather resistant tropical hardwood. On the other hand, For cedar outdoor furniture, the bad weathers will not easily compromise the integrity of the material. That means that outdoor furniture made from cedar has natural resistance to rotting, to cracking, and to warping- leaving just the natural beauty of the wood. Aluminum is a lightweight and easily molded metal that will not rust. It was first used to construct outdoor furniture in the early 1960’s, when it was made from extruded, hollow-core tubing. Wrought iron furniture is an elegant yet affordable way to liven up your deck and patio area. Wrought iron has been used for centuries in furniture and decorating, and today, we have a selection of furniture that’s both decorative and functional, designed and to be enjoyed indoors and out.

Outdoor furniture has evolved nicely from the days of the rocking chair on the front porch to casual, classy and sometimes very formal outdoor furniture settings on today’s decks and patios. Find a wide selection of modern outdoor furniture at Everything Furniture.com!

Bathroom shelves

July 9th, 2010

Bathroom shelves are not only items of great utility, but also have aesthetic value. They can be used to store cosmetics, hold appliances and stack towels. Bathroom shelves are simply perfect for providing upright storage in a small bathroom with limited floor space.

If you have installed a shower vanity in your bathroom, shower shelves is what you need to hold essential cosmetic items without making the place look crowded.

Although shower shelves are available in different materials ranging from wood, metal to plastic, glass shelves could be an ideal choice to make your bathroom look less crowded and larger. In addition, glass shelves come at a reasonable price and also can be installed easily. Besides, glass shelves are also popular for being naturally corrosion resistant.

Not every bathroom has the room for elaborate cabinetry, especially guest bathrooms. However that doesn’t mean all hope is lost for your bathroom redesign. If you’re looking for bathroom shelves that fit perfectly in your bathroom without taking up too much space, you need to start looking at free-standing, wall-mounted, and corner bathroom shelf units.

Get your bathroom shelving at EverythignFurniture.com!

Bathroom shelf units are the perfect alternative to installing built-in shelving. These bathroom shelving units are smaller in size, often rest on the floor or can be mounted on the wall, and often have multiple layers and drawers built into them. Bathroom shelf units come in many different styles and designs. If you’re looking for bathroom shelves that will accent your bathroom’s look, a glass unit will do the trick. If you’re looking for something with a bit more character, a wood unit will give your bathroom the solid foundation it needs.

Bathroom shelving units come in different sizes, shapes, makes, and colors. So you want to make sure you pick one that matches your bathroom’s décor and fits in the space you have available. The reason you’re opting for a shelving unit instead of built-in shelves is because of space constraints. So measure the space you have and find a unit that fits within those dimensions. If you’re opting for a wall-mounted unit, make sure the wall area can handle the weight of the shelf unit. Make sure there are studs in the wall area to properly secure the unit. If there aren’t, try and find a different, more appropriate location for the wall unit or see if a free-standing unit would be more appropriate.

Jewerly Armoire

July 8th, 2010

You have jewelry that can’t be evaluated by what it’s worth because the sentimental value exceeds any monterary value you could ever place on it. You probably have some small fragile trinkets that are exactly the same. They’ve touched your life and your heart is some small way. A jewelry armoire is the perfect place to store these worldly possessions!
A armoire is defined as a tall cabinet, usually with drawers, shelves and doors. Armoires nowadays can be wardrobe armoires, jewelry armoires, entertainment armoires and just recently even computer armoires. Jewelry armoires are typically smaller than a standard armoire, have four legs, and can be placed on top of a dresser, cupboard, or table. Although a wall mount jewelry armoire is frequently used as well. However what ever your choice it, you can’t go wrong when incorporating this beautiful piece in your home décor.

Not to be confused with a jewelry box, primarily because a jewelry armoire is made of wood, and a jewelry box can be made up of a number of materials such as glass, enamel, porcelain, plastic, silver, and of course, wood. Another major difference between is its construction and design - a jewelry armoire has two doors opening up to shelving units inside, while a jewelry box has compartments instead of shelves. Aside from these differences, they has metal or wooden knobs for opening the doors, and can also be made up of intricate designs and carvings on its surface.

Get your nice Jewerly armoire at Everything Furniture.com!

Do you like your jewelry armoire to gain more character and charm even with wear? Then a real solid wood jewelry armoire is for you. Do you not mind the look of an engineered MDF teamed with laminates or wood veneers for your first jewelry armoire? Then you can hop on to the internet and shop for hand-carved, hand-painted jewelry armoire beauties which look like wood and cost less. You may want a tall chest of six to eight drawers with sides that swing open to hang your pearls and necklaces. Or will it be a place where you can sit down, try on that flaming red ruby necklace after you’ve put on your makeup? Then you might consider having a shorter vanity armoire with mirror, vanity and a soft-cushioned bench.

Mattress

July 6th, 2010

The correct mattress with the right base can mean the difference between sweet dreams or sleep deprivation. Good quality mattresses help you sleep by giving you better support.

Mattresses with spring systems are usually padded with man-made polymers, but some contain natural fibres such as horsehair or wool. More layers aren’t always better – the support from the springs is more important. The number of springs in your mattress is less important than how they’re constructed. Which? has tested mattresses with densities ranging from 440 to 1,085 springs and found wide variation in support. Some sprung mattresses come with a removable cover, but you can buy one separately.

You can get your new mattress at Everything Furniture.com!

There are different types of mattresses: Continuous coil mattress is the cheapest type of bed mattress, made from a single looped wire. Because the springs move as one unit, you’re more likely to be disturbed by your partner moving around in the night. The coils in these mattresses wear out more quickly than pocket springs, so you’re likely to end up rolling together eventually. Open coil mattress are also widely available, open-coil mattresses are made of single springs fixed together by wire.

In addition, pocket sprung mattress is another type of mattress, in these mattresses, the springs are sewn into individual fabric pockets. They provide better support for your body, as each coil absorbs the weight individually. So pocket sprung mattresses are good if you sleep on your side, which puts different pressures on your spine. And if you move around a lot in your sleep, your partner is less likely to feel it.

Another type of mattress is memory foam mattress, also know as memory mattress these are topped with a layer of temperature-sensitive viscoelastic material (memory foam). Memory foam mattresses are good at relieving pressure on painful joints, but are usually pricier than sprung mattresses. Memory foam is affected by room temperature, so you might find the memory mattress cold and hard when you first go to bed. As it reacts to body heat, it moulds to your shape, which can make it difficult for you to move or get out of bed. It also reduces air circulation around your body, which makes the memory mattress feel warmer. Many people find this helpful in winter, especially because you can’t use an electric underblanket with memory foam mattresses. But you may feel too hot in summer. Furthermore, pure foam mattress or latex mattress can be a good option if you’re allergic to house dust mites.

Finding the right mattress will dramatically improve the way you sleep, and you can get yours at Everything Furniture.com!

Dining Chairs

July 5th, 2010

Choosing dining chairs for your home is a big decision and should be done carefully. Beautiful chairs can add a lot of elegance to your dining room and impress your guests for years to come.
Choosing a comfortable and functional chair involves careful consideration of personal taste, the intended use for the chair and the user.

Dining chairs are not only an important aspect of your interior design; they must be comfortable as well. Many times when choosing dining chairs the emphasis is placed on style or ensuring that your selected dining chairs complete the décor of your room as well as your dining table. However, there are many important facts to consider when choosing dining chairs and benches. Consider how much the dining chairs will be used. If you rarely have guests, and usually eat your meals in another room, then you won’t need a particularly luxurious design, but you will need to pick something that would be comfortable to sit on for a couple of hours. Fabric upholstery can provide comfort, create a more sumptuous look and introduce pattern, while leather is hard-wearing and wipe-clean (although can be sticky in the summer).

Get your Dining Chairs at Everything Furniture.com!

Choose something that will work with your dining table; it’s better not to mix different types of wood if you can help it, and you should keep the styles fairly similar - a contemporary glass table might look a bit odd surrounded by shabby-chic painted chairs. Choosing chairs for a round dining table requires measuring your dining table as well as deciding the style of dining chair you would like purchase. Checking the fit and dimensions of your chair selection with your dining table is very important. When selecting the style of your chairs, make sure they complement the style of your table as well as the overall style of your home.

The last and never the least feature that you need to be mindful is the number of chairs you might actually require. It chiefly depends on the number of members in your family. And also how often you sit together? Of course the availability of the space is also very much essential. Generally in a family of 4 (Husband wife and 2 kids) you might not need more than 4 chairs and 1 table. However, if you have a larger family then you might want to opt for 6 or 8 chairs and 1 big master table.

Cheval Mirrors

July 1st, 2010

A cheval mirror is a full-length mirror encased in a decorative frame that is attached to a large supporting base by a set of swivel screws. The supporting base consists of two vertical bars held up by a pair of feet. This base is also called a horse, or “cheval” in French, and it allows the mirror to stand freely, while the swivel screws allow the angle of the mirror to be adjusted. A cheval mirror is typically made of woods like oak, mahogany or cherry, however versions can also be found in materials like wrought iron and steel.

Buy your cheval mirror at Everything Furniture.com!

Cheval mirrors are an important addition to any dressing area. They can be tilted to fit a person of any height. The cheval mirror is a particularly nice piece to add to the bedroom, a large bathroom or dressing room, or even to use as a transitional piece in a large living area. Chevals are typically full length and on either an easel stand or have a pivot point at about half way, allowing them to be easily adjusted for the perfect view.

The cheval mirror’s ability to swivel makes it extremely functional, as its angle can be adjusted to allow you to view yourself from head to toe no matter how tall or short you are, or how close you are standing to the mirror. This is an ability that a full-length mirror mounted to a wall does not have. In addition to being an efficient way to check your wardrobe, however, a cheval mirror is also a classic piece of furniture that adds a decorative touch to home spaces.
